How can we transform our urban areas from car-dominated spaces to spaces for people? Can we support changes to the way that people travel in cities through the provision of multimodal infrastructure and options? And how can we together with our residents, create a city space for all?

A sustainable future for the Baltic Sea requires active actions. Participate in the international online seminar organized by the Baltic Sea Challenge on 11 February 10.00–15.00 EET! The seminar will highlight the Agenda 2030 goals in the protection of the Baltic Sea. The seminar will be opened by the Mayor of the City of Turku Minna Arve. We will also hear a greeting from the City of Helsinki's Deputy Mayor Anni Sinnemäki. The program includes two keynote lectures, four parallel sessions, and a workshop.

Lahti welcomes everyone to join historical and the very first Virtual European Green Capital Handover and Opening Ceremony. Lahti will officially kick-off its year as European Green Capital 2021 on 15 January at 12:00 Lahti (UTC+2) / 11:00 Brussels (UTC+1) / 10:00 Lisbon (UTC). Virtual workshop on 14 Oct 2021 At which level should local climate change adaptation work be carried out? This workshop will discuss decision-making and adaptation action at a municipal level and on a larger scale at a county level.

The second cities.multimodal webinar session "Getting the citizens on board – Testing innovative ways of involvement"  will take place on Thursday 14th of Janauary 9:30-11 CET.

Developing low-carbon energy systems is a cornerstone of achieving cities carbon neutrality targets set in cities' climate and energy plans. Cities and municipalities have an important role in leading the shift towards low-carbon energy systems. Sustainability and carbon neutrality targets need to be taken into account in all levels and phases of the process from overall city and regional planning to detailed planning and from building and constructions to using the buildings in a smart way.

The first session of the cities.multimodal webinar series is dedicated to the Living Street concept, its adaption and implementation in the Baltic Sea Region context.

On 2 December 2020 the transnational networking event “Beach Wrack in the Blue Bio Economy” will be organized by CONTRA project. The event will offer a platform for information exchange between management authorities, researchers and private companies active in the field of beach wrack management. The aim is to build innovation capacity in the sector and encourage cooperation between stakeholders.

This year's midterm conference of HUPMOBILE was supposed to be held in Hamburg. However, due to the Coronavirus outbreak, we cannot organize it as a face-to-face conference. Instead, we are organizing two short virtual events on different days discussing the future of mobility in the Baltic Sea Region cities. During these two days, we will focus on the concept of Fusion Mobility and whether COVID-19 has an impact on the development of sustainable mobility. Both webinars are open for everyone and free of charge.

The UBC TALKS webinar in November will open up the theme "Ensuring water safety from hazardous substances". We will talk about ways to improve addressing hazardous substances in the wastewater treatment process, how to tackle industrial discharges into the municipal wastewater treatment line, and discuss best ways to raise awareness of citizens regarding their role in this cycle.

The concept of Mobility as a Service, MaaS, claims to offer a personal mobility package based on lifestyle needs and delivered through a single interface and subscription. The CIVITAS SATELLITE initiative brings you in this webinar examples of CIVITAS cities that have seen an opportunity on this trend and have worked on its implementation within their projects. ECCENTRIC partners have developed the MaaS readiness indicators to ensure that all possible aspects of the current situation are taken into consideration before the local environment is ready for MaaS.

UBC TALKS continue exploring the topic of "Local work on the Sustainable Development Goals in UBC Cities", this time focusing on how cities can integrate SDGs in their strategies and what are the experiences of working with SDGs on local level.
