CDP Europe Awards 2022: Now For Nature event on March 9: a 2-hour TV show event, it brings together UN climate and environmental leaders, EU policymakers, corporate CEOs, finance leaders, top scientists, city mayors, economists, and journalists to look closely at the role for nature in the European Green Deal & a net-zero economy.

On December 7th, European Green Capital Lahti and Sitowise welcome you to a virtual event on Agenda 2030 objectives: can digital solutions truly help cities in reaching the goals? This event will present solutions to make sustainable development an integral part of decision-making and leadership in cities.

Digital Solutions for 1.5 Degree Cities and Citizens Lahti – European Green Capital 2021 will host the Ecocity Forum Lahti on 2 November 2021 at 9-12 (CET) / 10-13 (EET), gathering decision-makers, companies, city experts and researchers. We are all united by a single cause: building cities of the future that are healthy, ecologically sustainable, that provide infrastructure, innovations and services that enable citizens to live more sustainably.  

UBC Presidium at the meeting held on 23 June 2021 decided that due to uncertain situation with the pandemic COVID-19, the General Conference in 2021 will be held online. The Conference will consist of the General Assembly including reports, elections, membership fees, strategic documents. The General Conference in St. Petersburg “Resilient Baltic Sea Cities. Tackling the challenges and creating the future(s)” will take place in 2022 or 2023 depending on pandemic development.

The Commission meeting of the UBC SCC will take place online on 19 October 2021 at 11.00 – 13.00 CEST / 12.00-14.00 EEST. The meeting will discuss matters related to the Commission's past activities and planned actions as well as structure of the new Advisory Board and appoint a new Head of Secretariat. SCC Secretariat will also present the latest draft of the UBC Sustainability Action Programme 2022 – 2030.

12th EUSBSR Annual Forum The Annual Forum of the Strategy for the Baltic Sea Region is the largest event of the Strategy. It brings together all the stakeholders implementing the EUSBSR as well as other participants who would like to contribute to managing the common challenges the Baltic Sea Region faces. The 12th Annual Forum will take place from 27 September to 1 October. It will focus on green recovery and will invite the participants to REVITALISE the Strategy, to RECOVER after COVID-19 together and to RECHARGE for greener and more resilient Baltic Sea Region.

The BSR WATER platform's Final Conference will take place online on 15–16 September 2021, organised by UBC Sustainable Cities Commission to introduce and share the results of our intensive platform cooperation.

UBC Sustainability Action programme 2022-2030 - information & consultation event is an open event for all UBC members to get informed on the process or preparing the next Sustainability Action Programme and to contribute to it with ideas, input and comments, so that we together shape a strong sustainability strategy for our network! Generic information Our current Sustainability Action programme is coming to an end and the new one will be presented at the XVI UBC General Conference in October 2021.

The Ecocity Forum will be held as a hybrid event on 16-17 March 2021 to enable participants to attend either virtually or in person at Lahti’s magnificent timber-built concert venue and conference centre Sibelius Hall.

Lahti welcomes everyone to join historical and the very first Virtual European Green Capital Handover and Opening Ceremony. Lahti will officially kick-off its year as European Green Capital 2021 on 15 January at 12:00 Lahti (UTC+2) / 11:00 Brussels (UTC+1) / 10:00 Lisbon (UTC). UBC TALKS continue exploring the topic of "Local work on the Sustainable Development Goals in UBC Cities", this time focusing on how cities can integrate SDGs in their strategies and what are the experiences of working with SDGs on local level.
