Faced with recurrent water-related crises, this edition of the EU Green Week 2024 annual conference will debate what is needed to make the EU more water resilient, today and tomorrow. Water is a vital shared resource to be passed down from generation to generation and one of the essentials for people, the environment and a just, sustainable, and resilient economy.

With a 2030 target, the EU Mission "Restore our Ocean and Waters" aims to protect and restore the health of our ocean and waters through research and innovation, citizen engagement and blue investments. The Mission’s approach addresses the ocean and waters as one and plays a key role in achieving climate neutrality and restoring nature.

The range of the events within the European Ocean Days will include the Mission Restore our Ocean & Waters Forum, the event Where next for Europe's Seas?, the BlueInvest Day, and the event Ocean Literacy in Action. What to expect:

The UBC TALKS webinar on 27 February at 10.30-12.00 EET / 9.30-11.00 CET will bring inspiration and knowledge needed to start transnational cooperation and to secure funding for actions leading to innovative and climate-smart cities!

This international conference will bring together researchers, decision-makers, specialists and other stakeholders interested in planetary health, sustainability and wellbeing. Participation includes 3 days of transdisciplinary sessions, discussions, presentations and posters that spur transformative action through scientific knowledge.

The UBC TALKS webinar on 28 November will focus on one of the most pressing challenges the cities are facing – the plastic pollution. We will discuss how forerunning BSR cities address sustainable plastic management in their strategies and action plans.

With Green Public Procurement as a central theme, the conference recognizes its vital role in implementing green governance and promoting sustainable consumption and production. Local governments possess significant potential to achieve sustainability goals through their procurement processes, particularly by ensuring they are not just climate-neutral but also circular and free from harmful toxins. During the event, the first-ever NonHazCity Award for tox-free, circular and climate-neutral buildings and building processes at municipalities will be launched.

The conference in Palanga will bring UBC together to discuss how to support Ukrainian cities and their eventual reconstruction. Presentations, discussions, and workshops prepared by the UBC Commissions will provide new ideas and inspire the UBC and its member cities to cooperate with a new impetus.

This event is organized by our colleagues at Hamburg University of Applied Sciences and marks the inauguration of a series of initiatives aimed at engaging companies across the Baltic Sea Region. The European Week of Regions and Cities is held in Brussels on 9-12 of October 2023. The week consists of multiple sessions with speakers and participants discussing about cohesion policy, common challenges and good practices. There are also local side events that are connected to the main event. The participants create a diverse group of government officials, representatives, politicians, academics, members of the public, journalists and so much more.

As the first of the four Macro-Regional Strategies in Europe, the Baltic Sea Region Strategy has always been a front-runner, be it innovation ecosystems, sustainability-oriented citizens, or energy security goals. Countries from the Baltic Sea Region are working together to develop renewable energy sources and to improve energy efficiency. In addition, much effort is being put into the promotion of regional trade and investment, and improving interconnections between the countries in the region and beyond.

The European Sustainability Conference is held online on the 28th of Septmeber 2023, 12:00-13:30 EEST. The agenda consists of one keynote lecture on green governance followed by panel discussions by various sustainability experts. The event is a good opportunity to learn directly from experts and take something new and innovative to impelement into sustainability topics.
