This key Baltic Sea Region event is dedicated to exploring innovative solutions for addressing organic micropollutants, including pharmaceuticals and per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), in the context of the evolving regulatory landscape in Europe.

As cities across Europe and the Baltic Sea Region face increasing climate risks, the need for robust and nature-inclusive urban strategies has never been more urgent. This year's meeting aims to catalyse action by providing a unique platform for municipal leaders, experts, planners, and practitioners to collaborate on building cities that are not only resilient to climate change but also rich in biodiversity and nature.

Together with Copenhagen Malmö Port (CMP), World Maritime University (WMU), and Union of the Baltic Cities (UBC) - the City of Malmö is hosting a pivotal conference on Future-proofing Our Port Cities, taking place 30 September – 1 October 2025. The conference brings together decision-makers, representatives from business, academia and the public sector from across Europe to jointly discuss future strategies for Europe's coastal and port cities in light of climate change.

The highly anticipated Urban Future 2025 (UF25) is set to take place in Łódź, Poland, from May 21-23, 2025, bringing together over 2,000 urbanists, city leaders, and change-makers from around the world. With an inspiring lineup of 250 speakers, 100 partners, and 150 mayors and city representatives, UF25 promises to be the most engaging and solution-driven event in the urban innovation space.

Welcome to the EMPEREST 4th international workshop in Szczecin, Poland! The workshop "Unlocking innovative solutions and developing capacities in the wastewater sector" will take place on 12-14 May 2025, with the public event on 13 May and a study visit on 14 May.

Over the course of one and a half days, participants will have the opportunity to discuss the most pressing blue economy issues facing the region such as shipping and ports, maritime security, and sustainable food production. The event will culminate in the co-creation of a roadmap guiding the region toward achieving the goals of EU Mission Oceans & Waters.

During the UBC TALKS webinar introducing new era of toxic-free water cycle on 25 March 2025 at 9.30–11.00 CET / 10.30–12.00 EET, the international experts from the Baltic Sea Region will discuss the challenge of micropollutants in wastewater, technologies for their removal, as well as the new European regulations requiring significant infrastructural investments in all larger cities.

Visit Visby in October for co-creation, policy dialogues and of course networking! Interactive workshops, panel discussions, and seminars invite participants to discuss challenges and to elaborate on solutions. Central to the forum, policy dialogues address the strategic objectives of the EUSBSR. These discussions range from large plenary sessions to focused panels, each tackling key aspects of the Strategy and exploring solutions to enhance the Baltic Sea Region’s development. The Networking Village serves as a social hub for informal exchanges and spontaneous connections.

Sustainable transformation for resilient coastal city The event will focus on Gdańsk harbour and riverside areas as case studies, allowing creative flow and exchange of experiences among representatives of different UBC cities. The development strategy of Gdańsk encourages seeking new solutions and implementing adaptive measures to make public spaces more green, inclusive and accessible. At the joint seminar, we will get to plan such spaces together – as a group of sustainability experts, city planners, and architects.
