The first issue of the UBC TALKS webinars in 2023 will focus on the cooperation in the Baltic Sea Region. We invite prominent regional organisations to join us in the discussions of the role of cities in the macroregional cooperation.

Implementing the HELCOM Baltic Sea Action Plan (BSAP), aiming for a healthy Baltic Sea, is a demanding – but feasible – task. All sectors need to be on board in reaching each one of the ambitious targets, which cover a very wide range of topics. In the UBC Sustainability Action Programme 2030, strengthening of the implementation of the HELCOM Baltic Sea Action Plan in cities is listed as one of the actions to empower and reach water-smart cities.

The conference is organized by the BSR WATER platform, co-hosting the final conference of the Revivng Baltic Resilience project (led by Gdańsk University of Technology).

Water management and climate adaptation: approaching water as a resource in a climate-resilient city At the webinar on 25 May 2021 at 9.30-11.00 CET we will be talking about cities' resilience in relation to the water management. Ensuring that the city is adapted to the climate change consequences is crucial, and it's also important to ensure the efficiency of the water sector in the city.

The XXI International Environmental Forum "Baltic Sea Day" will be organized on 23-24 March 2021 under the theme "Sustainable Development for the Baltic Sea – Long Road to the Healthy Baltic Sea". UBC Sustainable Cities Commission will take an active part in the forum, presenting own activities as well as highlighting the achievements of its BSR WATER platform.
