The focus of the Sustainable Cities Commission meeting 2026 is active mobility! We warmly welcome UBC members to the meeting, organised back-to-back with our large conference “Baltic Active Mobility 2026: Shaping Future Cities” on 7-9 September 2026 in Gdynia, Poland.

Cities need to increase their climate resilience with adaptation measures that serve the whole society – but how to make sure that no one is overlooked in the process? At the webinar on 26 May 2026, we discuss how to enable local communities and especially vulnerable groups to act in case of a crisis. You will learn different methods to increasing citizen awareness and understanding of climate risks and actions, and how to enable citizens to take active part in the planning.

Climate impacts, demographic change and growing security pressures are already affecting us and our communities. The tides are shifting, and so must we. The highly anticipated Urban Future 2025 (UF25) is set to take place in Łódź, Poland, from May 21-23, 2025, bringing together over 2,000 urbanists, city leaders, and change-makers from around the world. Sustainable transformation for resilient coastal city The event will focus on Gdańsk harbour and riverside areas as case studies, allowing creative flow and exchange of experiences among representatives of different UBC cities. The development strategy of Gdańsk encourages seeking new solutions and implementing adaptive measures to make public spaces more green, inclusive and accessible. At the joint seminar, we will get to plan such spaces together – as a group of sustainability experts, city planners, and architects.

We are pleased to announce the upcoming Sustainable Urban Mobility Indicator online workshop on Thursday, 5 September 2024, from 9:00 to 11:30 CEST (10:00 to 12:30 EEST). Indicators are essential for monitoring the implementation of Sustainable Urban Mobility Plans (SUMPs) and providing valuable data to cities and stakeholders on the progress and success of implemented measures.

Hybrid workshop about innovative nature-based solutions for innovative cities organised in Gdansk, organised as an EU Green Week partner event.

The Urban Future conference week is held in Rotterdam, Netherlands on June 5-7, 2024. It brings together activists and influencers who represent different areas like mobility, energy, real estate, public transport, housing, urban planning, tech and public administration. The event creates a platform for sharing information on what has worked and what mistakes to avoid when it comes to sustainability. Participants have an opportunity to learn from different fields and they get to bring something new about sustainability back to their own cities.

This international conference will bring together researchers, decision-makers, specialists and other stakeholders interested in planetary health, sustainability and wellbeing.
