Heads up Latvian municipalities! The European City Facility Initiative's (EUCF) first call is now open! Therefore EUCF's Latvian Country Expert Ekodoma is now organising an info webinar about the EUCF in Latvian on May 28 14:00-15:30 EET. Electrification of municipal and private fleets is a topic of key importance as cities across Europe are looking to reduce their carbon and pollutant emissions. Municipalities have a range of options to influence and impact this transition.

The webinar in May opens up the topic "Change your way(s) – towards multimodal urban mobility in BSR cities" with experiences from Pskov, Tartu and Riga.

Cities and water sector professionals are invited for the discussion on developing smart and sustainable stormwater planning and management. Due to the current situation, Transport Research Arena in Helsinki has been cancelled. TRA is the foremost European transport event that covers all transport modes and all aspects of mobility. In 2020, TRA takes place in Helsinki, Finland. Themed Rethinking transport – towards clean and inclusive mobility, TRA2020 brings together experts from around the world to discuss the newest innovations and future of mobility and transport.

Lisbon was chosen to host the 5th edition of the URBAN FUTURE Global Conference (UFGC), Europe’s largest event for sustainable cities, that will bring together around 3,000 decision makers and professionals from over 60 countries from 1st to 3rd April 2020.  This conference, which is considered to be a multidisciplinary urban event, has brought together, over the past four editions, people willing to be drivers of sustainable change in the cities where they live, creating synergies for the development of concrete projects.

In March, we invite all UBC cities to join the discussion on what are the best practices on environmental data disclosure to CDP. As the next reporting period is approaching fast, it is good to be prepared and ask fellow UBC cities who have been reporting since the beginning of UBC-CDP cooperation to share their experiences and tips on how to manage the deadlines, finding relevant data, getting political commitment and more. Lahti, Tartu and Riga are the UBC cities sharing their best practices at the UBC TALKS this time!

In February we will discuss about the experiences and results of the SUMPs-UP project. We will introduce the updated SUMP guidelines and support material, the outcomes of the project and promote the free available support for cities. The UBC member cities Cesis and Trelleborg, who have participated in the SUMP learning programmes will share their experiences from the programme, the international learning group and tell us how working with SUMPs has impacted their city.

Policymakers and experts are invited to a workshop focusing on how to increase safety for unprotected road users using simple and low-cost methods. The workshop is hosted by the City of Stockholm and partners of the EU project CIVITAS ECCENTRIC, in which Stockholm works with the cities of Madrid (Spain), Munich (Germany), Ruse (Bulgaria)and Turku (Finland) to demonstrate actions supporting safe walking and cycling and a range of other mobility solutions.
