At the UBC TALKS webinar on 7 October 2025 (09.30–11.00 CEST / 10.30–12.00 EEST), experts and city representatives will explore how monitoring frameworks and innovative pilots help cities support active mobility and achieve their climate goals. Join municipalities from across the Baltic Sea Region as they share their practical experiences, and learn how to kick-start monitoring and evaluation in your city and strengthen your city’s Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan (SUMP).

Together with Copenhagen Malmö Port (CMP), World Maritime University (WMU), and Union of the Baltic Cities (UBC) - the City of Malmö is hosting a pivotal conference on Future-proofing Our Port Cities, taking place 30 September – 1 October 2025. The conference brings together decision-makers, representatives from business, academia and the public sector from across Europe to jointly discuss future strategies for Europe's coastal and port cities in light of climate change.

This biennial event is an opportunity to contribute to the EU policy agenda for cities, exchange ideas, explore bold solutions and connect with like-minded professionals working to shape the future of cities. Attendees will participate in site visits, exhibitions and interactive discussions on pressing urban challenges, including affordable housing, climate resilience, and the digital transition. The event "The changing landscape of Sustainable Urban Mobility Planning" will include inspiring presentations and an engaging workshop. You will hear about guidance and recommendations from the European Commission and learn about the revised TEN-T regulation, and dive into the experiences from Sweden on sustainable urban mobility. Interactive workshops, panel discussions, and seminars invite participants to discuss challenges and to elaborate on solutions. Central to the forum, policy dialogues address the strategic objectives of the EUSBSR. These discussions range from large plenary sessions to focused panels, each tackling key aspects of the Strategy and exploring solutions to enhance the Baltic Sea Region’s development. As cities across the Baltic Sea Region aim for climate neutrality and the wellbeing of their citizens, SUMPs gain a foothold as a strategic tool to promote active and sustainable mobility.

Sustainable transformation for resilient coastal city The event will focus on Gdańsk harbour and riverside areas as case studies, allowing creative flow and exchange of experiences among representatives of different UBC cities. The development strategy of Gdańsk encourages seeking new solutions and implementing adaptive measures to make public spaces more green, inclusive and accessible. At the joint seminar, we will get to plan such spaces together – as a group of sustainability experts, city planners, and architects.

We are pleased to announce the upcoming Sustainable Urban Mobility Indicator online workshop on Thursday, 5 September 2024, from 9:00 to 11:30 CEST (10:00 to 12:30 EEST). Indicators are essential for monitoring the implementation of Sustainable Urban Mobility Plans (SUMPs) and providing valuable data to cities and stakeholders on the progress and success of implemented measures.

This international conference will bring together researchers, decision-makers, specialists and other stakeholders interested in planetary health, sustainability and wellbeing. Participation includes 3 days of transdisciplinary sessions, discussions, presentations and posters that spur transformative action through scientific knowledge.

The annual European Mobility Week is held this year on 16-22 of September 2023. The European Commission's campaign brings awareness to sustainable urban mobility promoting active mobility, public transport and other more sustainable transport solutions. This year over 2700 towns and cities are involved from 43 different countries - including Europe and beyond! This year's topic "How will you Save Energy?" incourages people to find new ways and solutions together to be more energy efficient.
