The European Conference on Sustainable Urban Mobility Plans is Europe's leading annual event for all those involved in putting the SUMP concept into practice. The event offers opportunities to network, debate key issues and to exchange ideas on sustainable urban mobility planning.  The conference will take place at De Oosterpoort, Trompsingel 27, 9724 DA Groningen, The Netherlands.

How do you ensure the implementation of measures in a sustainable urban mobility plan (SUMP)? How do you engage decision makers in the SUMP process? CIVITAS SUMPs-Up's fourth webinar for mobility practitioners will explore these crucial questions by focusing on an important milestone in the SUMP process – developing the SUMP action plan and ensuring political commitment to it.

Which measures would help your city to achieve the goals in your sustainable urban mobility plan? Crucial to SUMP development and implementation is the systematic and judicious selection of SUMP measures and knowledge of how to combine them effectively. The 3rd SUMPs-Up Webinar for mobility practitioners focuses on this important step in the SUMP process.

Vulnerable groups such as children, the elderly, or people with disabilities depend on public transportation and an accessible public space to stay mobile. Women are the largest user group of public transport. Therefore, sustainable urban mobility planning needs to provide inclusive and accessible means of mobility for all of these groups.

Analysing the mobility situation and developing scenarios of possible future mobility situations helps to set the goals for your city’s Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan. In order to know where you want to go and how you're going to get there, you first need to know where you are currently standing. Collecting evidence on the existing mobility conditions and ensuring availability of accurate data is the basis for SUMP development.

The 2nd SUMPs-Up webinar organised on February 20th 10:00-11:30 CET focuses on analyzing the mobility situation and collecting data collection for SUMP. As a city case example, the City of Malmö presents how they collect and use different data for planning their transport measures. Malmö combines several methods of collecting data, and has piloted recently some innovative data collection methods based on a digital travel survey based on an app.

In any case, this is for you:  The SUMPs-Up project supports the take-up of SUMPs in European countries by offering a wide variety of learning opportunities for local authorities considering or already working with SUMPs. 

Cities.multimodal's sister project “Sustainable Urban Mobility and Commuting in Baltic Cities” SUMBA is an INTERREG BSR funded project focusing on sustainable and green commuting. The SUMBA project invites you to the conference on transport modelling and data management. The conference will take place in December 4-5, 2018 in the Historic Centre of Tallinn, Estonia.

The importance of transport’s social dimension is becoming increasingly clear - mobility shapes lives and prospects. It is crucial that transport systems are environmentally friendly, inclusive, efficient, and centred on meeting diverse user needs. Yet how can this be accomplished? Under the banner of "Mobility for U and Me", this year's CIVITAS Forum Conference will gather hundreds of policymakers, city representatives, academics, and practitioners in Umeå, Sweden, from 19-21 September to debate this critical question.
