Is it possible to create an inspiring network event online, without the human interactions? Sharing knowledge and experiences in virtual spaces, that's something we have practiced since the outbreak of the pandemic in spring 2020, but can we create a conference atmosphere beyond a webinar?

Awareness and environmental education is getting a primary role as a measure to mitigate littering of the marine environment as a consequence of coastal tourism and public recreation. It’s been recognized as an appropriate tool to raise public awareness and attract attention to the problem, inspiring new actors, e.g. local authorities, to join the measures to prevent littering of the marine environment.

The very first Baltic Sea Region Mobility Summit was organised 8-10 September 2020. The event was the result of a joint effort from the Interreg BSR projects cities.multimodal, SUMBA and BSR electric.

Decarbonizing mobility lies at the heart of efforts to mitigate climate change in urban areas. This looms in the vicinity for the city of Turku in Finland, aiming to become carbon neutral by year 2029. To reach this goal, a broad range of measures to decarbonize transport is naturally needed. In Turku, the focus of approaching the mobility decarbonization ranged from stakeholder integration on regional and local level to practical measures.

Already since the 1990s, Turku has been an active advocate of sustainable development, and acted as a pioneer in carrying out environmental work in cities.

CASCADE addresses the challenges related to climate change risks, with better cooperation between national and local levels and different sectors. Close collaboration between specialists in climate change adaption and well-prepared civil security and protection experts is CASCADE’s answer to climate change related consequences. Nine partners representing seven Baltic Sea Region countries are involved in the project.
