The City of Tallinn has been involved with INTERREG BSR project HUPMOBILE which has a holistic approach to planning, implementation, optimisation, and management of integrated, sustainable mobility solutions that will be developed in Baltic Sea port cities.

The five European cities Turku, Stockholm, Munich, Madrid and Ruse, together with a variety of supporting partners, have implemented 51 measures and tested innovative sustainable mobility solutions in the living laboratory areas. To give some deeper insight to the project results and achievements, CIVITAS ECCENTRIC will end its project lifetime together with the CIVITAS sister projects DESTINATIONS and PORTIS during a 3 week event.

The Riga Municipal Agency “Riga Energy Agency” has launched the first mobility point in Riga and Latvia in the VEF district, connecting different sustainable modes of transport and offering convenient access to micro mobility and public transport opportunities. The mobility point will also serve as a pilot area for deployment of innovative, data-based solutions, including both a bicycle and pedestrian counter and a testbed for smart city solutions.

Developing public transport to serve inhabitants profitably and ecologically is especially challenging in small cities like Kemi. Almost all the households own a car or two, as well as cycling and walking are popular. With the public transport having a strict competition with other ways of moving, how can we decrease cars with only one passenger?

In 2020 both events were merged for the very first time into the European Urban Mobility Days - and then shifted online due to Covid-19. Is it possible to create an inspiring network event online, without the human interactions? Sharing knowledge and experiences in virtual spaces, that's something we have practiced since the outbreak of the pandemic in spring 2020, but can we create a conference atmosphere beyond a webinar?

Decarbonizing mobility lies at the heart of efforts to mitigate climate change in urban areas. This looms in the vicinity for the city of Turku in Finland, aiming to become carbon neutral by year 2029. To reach this goal, a broad range of measures to decarbonize transport is naturally needed. In Turku, the focus of approaching the mobility decarbonization ranged from stakeholder integration on regional and local level to practical measures.

The 10th Annual Forum of the EU Strategy for the Baltic Sea Region was organized in the beautiful Polish Baltic Frederic Chopin Philharmonic in Gdansk, Poland, on June 12th to 13th. The theme of this year’s forum was demographic changes along with the circular and shared economy – the discussions were, in other words, timely and important for the development of the BSR!

Urban Future Global Conference is an event for all the people who aim to make their city more sustainable. This year’s conference attracted 2500 city changers to Oslo to learn more about topics such as car-free city life, cutting carbon emissions and circular economy, among others.

The annual meeting of the CIVITAS Initiative took place under the slogan “Mobility for U and Me” from 19.-21- of September 2018 un Umeå, Sweden.

The CIVITAS DYN@MO has published two brochures focusing on clean vehicles and participation 2.0. The brochures are the two first ones of a series of four brochures that will focus each on one specific topic.
