Sustainable Cities Bulletin 1/2026

As we approach the summer vacation, we are proud to celebrate a remarkable milestone – 30 years of the UBC Sustainable Cities Commission. This anniversary is a good moment to reflect on our joint achievements and to look ahead at how we continue advancing sustainable, attractive and resilient cities together.

On behalf of the Commission, we would like to warmly invite you to join this year’s UBC Sustainable Cities Commission meeting, taking place on 7–9 September 2026 and kindly hosted by the City of Gdynia in Poland. The event will be held back-to-back with the international conference “Baltic Active Mobility 2026: Shaping Future Cities.”

The Commission meeting on 7 September will celebrate our 30-year journey while offering a valuable  opportunity to exchange experiences and, importantly, to bring your city’s perspective into shaping our future priorities and joint actions. On the following days, the Baltic Active Mobility conference will explore how active mobility and Sustainable Urban Mobility Plans can contribute to healthier, more resilient and climate-neutral cities. The programme also includes inspiring site visits in Gdynia and excellent networking opportunities, including a special anniversary dinner.

This is a unique opportunity to connect, collaborate and get inspired. I warmly encourage all UBC member cities to join this engaging exchange.

Wishing you a relaxing and enjoyable summer – and I very much look forward to welcoming many of you to Gdynia!

Sincerely yours,
Agnieszka Ilola and UBC SCC Team
