We are pleased to invite UBC member cities to nominate a representative to extend the meaningful collaboration as a member of the Advisory Board for the 2026–2027 term.

The UBC SCC has established an Advisory Board to strengthen cooperation with UBC member cities and better support them in their sustainable development. The Advisory Board consists of three co-chairpersons, the head of the secretariat, and experts from our member cities.

Thanks to the strategic support and collaboration with our member cities, the Commission has achieved important milestones, launched seven impactful projects, organized over twenty successful regional events and provided inputs to regional policy development (eg. EU Strategy for the Baltic Sea region). A detailed overview of our work during the past term is available in the Annual Reports (2023 / 2024).

The Advisory Board plays a vital role in guiding the activities of the UBC Sustainable Cities Commission. Together with the Secretariat, the Board helps to strengthen cooperation across the region, improve Commission practices, and support the implementation of the UBC Sustainability Action Programme 2030. The new Advisory Board will be appointed at the upcoming UBC SCC Commission Meeting in Malmö, Sweden (1–3 October 2025) and formally announced during the UBC XVIII General Conference in Słupsk (Dolina Charlotty), Poland (4–7 November 2025).

The continued involvement of experts from our member cities is essential to our joint success, and we firmly believe that participation in the Advisory Board brings strategic benefits to your city in its sustainability efforts.

If your city would like to take an active role in steering the activities of our Commission, we kindly ask you to fill and send the nomination form latest by 12 September 2025, via email to the UBC SCC Secretariat (agnieszka.ilola@turku.fi).

We look forward with enthusiasm to the continuation of our collaboration and the collective advancement of sustainable urban development in the Baltic Sea Region.
