Webinar: UBC TALKS about plastic plans for sustainable future

The UBC TALKS webinar on 28 November 2023 focused on one of the most pressing challenges the cities are facing – the plastic pollution. The discussion on addressing it through the strategies and action plans took place in the framework of BALTIPLAST project, with HAW Hamburg introducing the plastic threat, and three cities - Västerås, Helsinki and Tallinn - sharing experiences from solving it!

During the webinar, Andrea Dobri from the Hamburg University of Applied Sciences (Lead partner of the BALTIPLAST project) introduced the topic of plastic pollution and respective BALTIPLAST goals on preventing it. Further, Olof Bergold, Västerås municipality, presented the Västerås’ strategy for the sustainable use of plastics. This was followed by the presentation "Plastic pollution – curing the disease or the symptom?" by Rasmus Boman, City of Helsinki. City presentations were concluded by the example of Tallinn – European Green Capital 2023, introduced by Liina Kanarbik: "Public events and reusable dishes in Tallinn".
