Last week the new mobility project "cities.multimodal" was kicked-off in the Hanseatic city of Rostock.

The project wants to make it easier for people in cities around the Baltic Sea to combine walking, cycling, public transport and car-sharing as an environmentally friendly alternative to using private cars. The cooperation between 10 cities (Rostock, Vilnius, Tartu, Kalmar, Karlskrona, Gdansk, Pskov, Riga, Århus, Guldborgsund), NGOs and expert partners aims at developing and applying a low-threshold approach for environmentally friendly urban mobility, attractive and easy to adopt for follower cities.

The project focuses on dense inner-city areas, offering good opportunities for sustainable mobility.

UBC Sustainable Cities Commission is responsible for capacity building, citizens involvement and dissemination in the project, but foremost we are very happy to cooperate with so many of our member cities!

More information about the project is coming soon!

Cities.multimodal is funded by the EU  Baltic Sea Region Programme 2014-2020
