Greifswald won the award as the municipality moving the world!

The award ceremony in the competition "Kommune bewegt Welt" (Municipality moving the world) took place as part of the 16th Federal Conference of Municipal Development Policy in Ingelheim am Rhein. Greifswald celebrated the first place in the category of medium-sized municipalities, winning the prize award of 30 000 euros.

The University and Hanseatic City of Greifswald impresses with its strategic and consistent development policy approach, demonstrating how sustainable development can be promoted in a targeted and systematic manner in a municipality. The cooperation structure has been created with the Greifswald Sustainability Alliance, launched by the city administration together with other key stakeholders incl. municipal utilities, transport company, university. This alliance is committed to jointly implement the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

The Baltic Sea city of Greifswald sets standards and inspires other municipalities to follow its example. The cooperation with various actors locally and internationally is impressive, the topic of sustainability is deeply anchored in the city administration and in the lives of citizens.
