The LIFE+ funded project Green citizens of Europe (GREENCIT) started in October 2010 and will run until the end of 2014. The city of Umeå is taking the lead and UBC EnvCom is one of the partners.
GREENCIT will show how environmental policy can be turned into concrete citizen-oriented actions which motivate and help citizens to change their behaviour. The project concentrates on activities in the areas of sustainable transport and housing with a special focus on energy and resource management. Various activities are planned, from extensive awareness raising campaigns to concrete buidling of bike shelters etc.

The project will have its official kick-off during the "Solutions- local, together" conference in Turku, Finland 31.1.-2.2.2011. More information about the project can be obtained from Carina Aschan, project manager, carina.aschan(at)umea.se
