At the UBC TALKS webinar on 24 November 2020 "Ensuring water safety from hazardous substances" we talked about ways to improve addressing hazardous substances in the wastewater treatment process, how to tackle industrial discharges into the municipal wastewater treatment line, and discussed best ways to raise awareness of citizens regarding their role in this cycle.
The webinar started with Emma Underman from Stockholm University Baltic Sea Centre talking about mapping micropollutants emitted in the Baltic Sea catchment via municipal wastewater. Vallo Kōrgmaa from Estonian Waterworks Association continued presenting about hazardous substances in municipal WWTPs and their sources and removal. The webinar ended with Monika Piortowska-Szypryt from Gdansk Water Utilities Ltd. talking examples of citizen awareness in the NonHazCity project.
