Webinar: UBC TALKS about Urban Biodiversity Parks

The UBC TALKS webinar about Urban Biodiversity Parks took place on 27 May 2025, focusing on urban biodiversity parks as a tool for urban ecological restoration and regeneration. The concept will be piloted by the City of Turku within the Urban Biodiversity Parks project funded by the European Urban Initiative (EUI). 

During the webinar, Maija Rusanen from the UBC SCC introduced the audience to the Urban Biodiversity Parks project. Annika Pöyhtäri and Selina Raunio from the City of Turku presented Urban Biodiversity Parks as a tool for urban ecological restoration and regeneration, sharing the experiences gained from one year of piloting in Skanssi Biodiversity Park. Furthermore, Per-Arne Nilsson of the City of Malmö – the UBC member city shared the experiences from the implemented measures and plans for the future increase of urban biodiversity, Liene Grike from City of Riga – another fellow UBC member shared the activities of Riga on preparing urban greening plan and biodiversity guidelines.
