Sustainable Cities Commission meeting 2026
On 7 September 2026, the pre-conference day will feature the UBC SCC Commission meeting and site visits in Gdynia. This year marks a special milestone as we celebrate 30 years of our Commission Secretariat. Together, we will look back at what we have achieved together and, more importantly, look ahead. We’ll discuss current challenges and trends in urban sustainability, shape priorities for the coming years, and explore funding opportunities for concrete local actions. You will also have the opportunity to join inspiring site visits in the City of Gdynia, learn about the city’s transformation, and enjoy networking with colleagues during the anniversary dinner.
We warmly welcome all representatives from UBC member cities to join it!
On 8-9 September, two full conference days will dive specifically into the topic of active urban mobility:
Baltic Active Mobility 2026
The conference “Baltic Active Mobility 2026: Shaping Future Cities” on 8-9 September 2026 is organised by the Interreg Baltic Sea Region Programme projects SUMPs for BSR and BATS supporting cities in accelerating the transition towards active and sustainable urban mobility.
This conference brings together practitioners, experts and decision makers at local, regional, national and EU levels to explore how active mobility and strong Sustainable Urban Mobility Plans (SUMPs) can shape healthier, more resilient and future-ready cities.
The conference will combine strategic debate with practical exchange and peer learning, creating space for both political dialogue and hands-on insights. Join the discussions about the future of active mobility and Sustainable Urban Mobility Plans (SUMPs) in the Baltic Sea Region and shape how cities can accelerate the transition towards climate-neutral, resilient and healthy mobility systems, and how governance, policy frameworks and funding can better support this shift. Participants will immerse in a creative dialogue with interactive formats, inspiring examples, and opportunities for direct exchange across levels of governance.
The whole event is in English and participation is free of charge.
We look forward to welcoming you to Gdynia for an engaging and inspiring exchange!
