What is the Green City Accord?
Launched in October 2020, the Green City Accord is a European Commission initiative to encourage city authorities to take further action to make their cities cleaner and healthier, and thereby improve the quality of life for their citizens. By joining the Accord, cities commit to addressing five areas of environmental management: improving air and water quality, conserving and enhancing urban biodiversity, advancing towards the circular economy and improving the management of waste, and reducing noise pollution.
The Green City Accord is open to any city located in the EU with a population of at least 20 000 inhabitants.
Objective of this workshop
This workshop will introduce the Green City Accord to cities in Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania and allow participants to ask questions about the initiative. Representatives of cities that have already joined the Green City Accord – Tallinn, Turku, Lappeenranta – will present their perspectives on the initiative and their plans for implementing their Green City Accord commitments.
Interpretation in Estonian, Latvian and Lithuanian will be provided.
