Baltic Sea Region advancing towards Sustainable Urban Mobility Planning - Conference

kids wondering if they should parttake in the development of the sustainable urban mobility planning process together with other stakeholders

The UBC Commission on Transportation together with the City of Gdynia organise a conference "Baltic Sea Region advancing towards Sustainable Urban Mobility Planning" The conference will be held in Gdynia (Poland) on 23-24th October 2014 and is organised within the framework of the Baltic Sea Region Competence Centre on SUMP.

Many cities may find it a challenge to elaborate SUMPs which require a high level of stakeholders’ participation and establishing a detailed complex planning process. The conference will be organised with a view to supporting cities, focusing on  the Baltic Sea Region in their efforts to elaborate the SUMP. The main characteristics and different aspects related to the SUMP preparation and implementation process will be addressed and discussed in the conference. Several cities will present practical examples of their SUMP measures. Among them is the City of Gdynia who is currently developing a next-generation mobility plan in cooperation with a variety of stakeholders and can be considered as a living laboratory for SUMP development. Gdynia will share their experiences on the SUMP process.

The conference will end with a site visit where participants will have a chance to get know some of the measures included in the Gdynia Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan.
