Networking for UBC member cities

The UBC Sustainable Cities Commission continuously works and supports the Unions’ currently about 70 member cities on making the Baltic Sea Region more sustainable.

We offer several ways to exchange information and experiences between colleagues from other cities on sustainability topics. Sharing your news and good experiences through our various communication channels, participating in the projects run by the commission and the events co-organised by us are great opportunities to learn from each other! Please read through the many ways your city can get involved and choose what option best fits your needs!

How to network with your fellow member cities

The most important element of our network is our members: the cities and municipalities around the Baltic Sea Region. We want to engage you and your city in new ways of meeting and cooperating. UBC Sustainable Cities Commission has gained extensive experience with organizing different kind of events throughout the years: now we want to support our member cities in tailoring the format of event they really want or need.

From 2020 onwards we are publishing a call for interest for all UBC member cities to host a UBC SCC event.

The first call was open in March 2020.

For more detailed information on the call and the type of events you can host, please read through:

Other ways for your city to be active:

The UBC TALKS Webinar series

Would you like to share a project, campaign, process or any activity related to sustainable development topics in your city? Do you have a topic that you would like to get some input on? Then a webinar can be the way to go. It is an easy, low-cost and low-emission tool to connect with other member cities. Everyone can take part straight from their desk and need only a computer with browser, a headset and a stable internet connection.

UBC SCC will take care of the technical hosting of the webinar and the moderation of the session, in cooperation with you. We will also help with inviting other speakers if necessary and promotion of the webinar in the network and beyond. The UBC TALKS webinar series takes place on the last Tuesday each month 09:30-11:00 CET.

If you are interested in sharing your news through our UBC TALKS webinar series, please contact our Communications and Network Manager Jutta Mäkinen.

In previous webinars UBC talked about:

The Sustainable Cities Bulletin

In order to spread the good experiences and other sustainability related news from the member cities and from our projects the UBC Sustainable Cities Commission eBulletin The Sustainable Cities Bulletin is published online 3-4 times per year. Our member cities are welcomed to contribute to the eBulletin and a call for stories is sent to all member cities roughly a month before the publication of each eBulletin. Read past issues here.

UBC Sustainable Cities Commission's Newsletter

For announcements and news we use our UBC Sustainable Cities Commission's Newsletter. This is sent ad hoc and usually includes news from the secretariat and is used to promote webinars and upcoming events in the region and Europe-wide.
