Welcome to the joint meeting of the UBC Planning and Sustainable Cities Commissions in Turku, Finland, on 13-15 September 2023!

It’s time again to join our expertise and do what we do best: cooperate!

The City of Turku and the UBC Planning and Sustainable Cities Commissions invite you to our joint meeting “Revitalizing urban space connected to the Sea” on 13-15 September 2023 in Turku, Finland. Commissions meeting programme.

The City of Turku, located on the south-west coast of Finland is the oldest city in Finland and the gateway to the breathtaking Turku archipelago. In the coming years, Turku will boldly renew itself and grow with the key goals to promote its residents’ well-being, activeness, and competitive sustainable business life – and not the least, to become carbon-neutral by 2029! The city’s vitality and growth will be built on an ecologically, socially, and economically sustainable foundation.
Reaching these goals need thorough and interdisciplinary planning, involving experts from all sectors.

We warmly invite you – and your expertise in urban planning, climate change, transport, water management and related sustainable urban development to join us on the transformation journey!

Together we will spend 3 days of inspiring lectures, exciting study visits and hands-on workshops to together discuss about revitalizing urban space from different viewpoints.

We are looking forward to learning from your own experiences and together developing ideas and recommendations for the selected urban areas of the City of Turku and contribute to the visioning work of the Maritime Western Turku area.
