Union of the Baltic Cities Sustainable Cities Commission is one of the thematic Commissions of the Union of the Baltic Cities (UBC). Union of the Baltic Cities is a voluntary, proactive network mobilizing the shared potential of its member cities for democratic, economic, social, cultural and environmentally sustainable development of the Baltic Sea Region.

UBC members Turku, Lahti, and Malmö are taking three times as many mitigation and adaptation measures as other cities to become climate neutral before 2050 and have received the highest award from CDP for their efforts.

Last year’s autumn came with good news, the project that UBC Sustainable Cities Commission is part of has been approved by the Interreg BSR, and we are glad to announce that the project BALTIPLAST dedicated to reducing single-use plastic waste was kicked off on 8-10 of February 2023 in Riga.

Velo-city is the European Cyclists’ Federation's flagship cycling summit, where advocates, cities, decision- and policy makers, researchers and industry leaders from around the world meet to shape the future of cycling. The summit plays a valuable role in promoting cycling as a sustainable and healthy means of transport for all. It offers a knowledge-exchange and policy-transfer platform to the growing number of more than 1400 Velo-citizens from over 60 countries involved in the policy, promotion and provision for cycling, active mobility and sustainable urban development.
