Union of the Baltic Cities Sustainable Cities Commission is one of the thematic Commissions of the Union of the Baltic Cities (UBC). Union of the Baltic Cities is a voluntary, proactive network mobilizing the shared potential of its member cities for democratic, economic, social, cultural and environmentally sustainable development of the Baltic Sea Region.

For the first time, the project consortium has gathered in Hamburg – the host city of the lead partner – Hafen City University and several other partners. The kick-off meeting, held on 24-25 September, has brought together the experts and practitioners representing regional energy agencies, municipalities, specialized networks, and academic institutions contributing to address the challenge of energy transition.
As public procurement constitutes a significant share of public expenditure and influences entire markets, Green Public Procurement is increasingly recognised as a high-impact lever of change. The Green Governance Day will serve as a high-level platform placing sustainability at the heart of political and practical action, enabling cities, institutions, and networks to shape the future together.

Vilnius
Shaping Europe’s Green Future: Baltic Sea Region Leaders Meet in Vilnius
On 26 November 2025, Vilnius will host the Green Governance Day, a high-level gathering of municipal leaders, policy-makers, and experts from across the Baltic Sea Region and Europe to advance the dialogue on sustainable public governance.
The event will serve as a platform to promote green governance as a key political priority, highlighting how public procurement, policy innovation, and municipal leadership can accelerate the green transition.
