UBC cities as finalists in European environment awards

The winners of the European Green Capital and Green Leaf will be announced  in an Awards Ceremony on 2nd of June 2017 in Essen, Germany - the current European Green Capital! We in the UBC Sustainable Cities Commission are proud to present the following UBC cities as finalists:

European Green Capital 2019

  • Ghent (Belgium)
  • Lahti (Finland)
  • Lisbon (Portugal)
  • Oslo (Norway)
  • Tallinn (Estonia)

European Green Leaf 2018

  • Leuven  (Belgium)
  • Ludgwigsburg (Germany)
  • Växjö (Sweden)

Congratulations to Lahti, Tallinn and Växjö - notable finalists in Green Europe!

The title of European Green Capital is awarded to larger European cities (over 100 000 inhabitants) with exemplary sustainability policies while the European Green Leaf Award is for small cities (20 000-100 000 inhabitants) – the current holder is Galway in Ireland. The winners will be announced at a ceremony on 2 June 2017 in Essen, Germany, the current European Green Capital. Read the official announcement.
