The workshop targets local authorities, regions and relevant stakeholders in the Nordic region who are interested in the opportunities that the Covenant of Mayors offers in meeting the CO2 emission reduction targets. The event will focus on how the established support structure of the Covenant of Mayors as well as the overall Covenant Community can catalyze the process towards meeting the 2020 targets set by all Nordic Signatories.

The overall objective of the workshop is to present - and discuss - further the strengths and opportunities for Nordic municipalities within the framework of the Covenant of Mayors.

This will be achieved through:

• Questions and answers on the latest updates from the Covenant of Mayors.
• Presentations of good examples of well established and new projects and collaborations with good opportunities to share experiences.
• Discussions on how Nordic municipalities can reach out and utilize the growing Covenant Community to meet their CO2 reduction targets.
• A strengthening of the Nordic network for sustainable urban development.
