CDP Response Check applications to be submitted before 25 June!

CDP is offering the cities an opportunity to check their responses and get feedback before the final submission. In order to get feedback, please contact before 25 June 2021. The deadline is in place to ensure CDP has enough time to go through your responses and give feedback as well as for you to have enough time to make changes before the deadline of 29th of June.  CDP Q&A Live Session answered some of the key questions our cities have

BRT (Bus Rapid Transit) Örebro

If we continue to travel as we do today, as half of all trips made in Örebro are car journeys, the number of trips by car increases by about 35%. With such an increase, the existing space in our street and traffic system is not enough. We need to stop this development with more vehicles and focus on a efficient solution for how people will be able to transport themselves through the city in the future.

Good things come to those who wait – multimodal mobility points opened in Vilnius!

The two pilot mobility points are located in the area of Antakalnis at public transport stops and were taken into use just a few weeks ago. At the multimodal mobility points, citizens can park their (electric) bikes or scooters safely, charge them if needed and then switch to public transport or continue the journey by foot.

Policy recommendations for implementing the integrated stormwater management

This publication was developed within the platform project BSR WATER as one of its key outputs. The report was prepared by the project partner Riga City Council with support from BSR WATER partners, and it is based on the surveys and interviews with 25 cities from 10 countries around the Baltic Sea. The cities that contributed to the survey – many of those UBC members!

Greifswald: a model city for sustainable education and mobility

Sustainable development is a declared goal in the university and Hanseatic city of Greifswald. Under Citizen Participation, the city is working on a comprehensive Sustainability strategy. Numerous actors from politics, administration and business and free initiatives are involved in the areas of climate and environmental protection, democracy, anti-racism, social participation and fair trade.

Though visiting model cities would be the best option to learn about successful projects, the pandemic situation has challenged us in many ways when it comes to traveling and gathering. As a result, we proposed four online meetings to take place once a month from February to May with a focus on biking, public transport, car-free city centers and urban electromobility.

Kiel on its way to become a Zero.Waste.City

In cooperation with the Wuppertal Institute and supported by the Zero Waste Kiel Association, the city of Kiel developed a 270 pages long term zero waste-strategy in a large participatory process. Beneath two main targets for the whole city, the strategy includes 107 measures and 18 sector-specific goals for waste prevention in the sectors educational institutions, households, industry, retail and events as well as public administration and waste management. Green and sustainable Kemi - now for Companies

In the previous project the focus was on city organization. All the branches were challenged to act in a more climate friendly way. Sorting and circulating of waste were improved, energy and water consumption was reduced, Social kitchen was established to reduce food waste and increase usage of vegetables. And so on. As a result, Kemi is now the second municipality in Finland having ISO 14001:2015 environmental certificate.
