Water management, climate adaptation and urban mobility – new projects are starting soon!
During the past weeks and months, we received good news: three new projects will start! One will be led by UBC SCC, in the two others we are involved as a partner.
- Platform on Integrated Water Cooperation - BSR WATER
The project brings together knowledge and innovation potential on a transnational basis. The aim is to continue cross-sectoral cooperation in smart water management providing a possibility for transnational experience exchange, sharing of good practices and solutions, as well as delivering comprehensive overview of the current and future policy contexts and their impacts in the Baltic Sea Region countries. BSR Water is led by UBC SCC and has a consortium of ten partners from Finland, Germany, Estonia, Poland, Latvia and Russia. The project is funded by the INTERREG BSR Programme 2014-2020. Project will Kick-off its activities at the end of November. Follow us on Twitter for the latest updates!

- CASCADE - Community Safety Action for Supporting Climate Adaptation and Development
The project aims to improve urban resilience in cities and towns, as well as the overall macro-regional resilience. The expected outcome of CASCADE is to adapt existing risk assessment methodology to the climate change context and tailor it to the local level. This methodology will be used in a training course for city officials, responsible for civil protection. If successful, the training can be replicated by all BSR countries. CASCADE will also strive for initiating a region-wide policy dialogue on the UN Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction as an effective platform for cross-sectorial cooperation between different levels of governance and for greater policy coherence on climate risk assessments. The project is funded by DG ECHO and led by the City of Turku.

- HUPMOBILE – Holistic Urban and Peri-Urban mobility
HUPMOBILE’s objective is to provide a holistic approach to the planning, implementation, optimization and management of integrated, sustainable mobility solutions – both in urban areas as well as in their perimeters. Concrete examples of innovations addressed are greener urban logistics and combinations of goods- and passenger traffic intelligent traffic systems (ITS) based services; tools for stakeholder participation, new tools for transportation mobility management and mobility-as-a-service (MaaS). Aiming for a lasting impact, HUPMOBILE has a strong focus on transferability and scalability of its outputs. The HUPMOBILE outputs include the overall HUPMOBILE framework as a modular online planning tool, as well as a variety of mobility concepts to be promoted for external uptake. The project is led by Aalto University and the consortium includes the cities Turku, Gdynia, Tallinn, Riga and Hamburg as well as UBC SCC and other supporting partners. The project is funded by the INTERREG BSR Programme 2014-2020.
