The annual meeting of the CIVITAS Initiative took place under the slogan “Mobility for U and Me” from 19.-21- of September 2018 un Umeå, Sweden.
Over 400 participants from cities and municipalities, organisations, NGOs, companies and different initiatives form all over Europe gathered in the Northern Swedish city for three days of interesting speeches and presentations, hands-on site visits around the town and most important- networking with other colleagues.
UBC SCC has been active within the CIVITAS Initiative for years and currently acts as the dissemination partner for the CIVITAS ECCENTRIC project. ECCENTRIC was represented by different partners in numerous sessions and received also acknowledgement by the EU Deputy Director General for Mobility and Transport, Matthew Balder.
Umeå is a very active and innovative city when it comes to sustainable urban development and they have managed to integrate many of their local activities and the characteristics of a Northern city into the programme. Various site visits made it possible for the participants to see and experience the city, the catering reflected northern ingredients in lunches and dinners and a close involvement of students of the University if Umeå anchored the conference and its discussions into the reality for the young generation.
The next CIVITAS Forum 2019 will take place in the city of Graz, Austria.
