Ocean Literacy in Coastal Cities Conference
Welcome to the Ocean Literacy in Coastal Cities Conference 6-7 December 2018 in Malmö. The aim is to inspire, learn, debate and drive action at a local level for the marine environment with focus on ocean literacy in coastal cities. Meet representatives from UNESCO in Venice, OCEAN SCHOOL in Canada, the Swedish Government and many more to take part in the important discussions on Ocean Literacy.
The City of Malmö and ICLEI together committed at the UN Ocean conference September 2017 to start a global network for ocean literacy, knowledge exchange and upscaling of local initiatives for the marine environment. The Malmö conference OCEAN LITERACY in Coastal Cities will be another opportunity to realize this.
The conference in December is arranged for specialists, educators and decision makers with focus on how we instil knowledge about the sea at an early stage. How can we motivate future generations to undertake preventive work and increase knowledge and understanding regarding the importance of our seas?
We welcome our key note speakers:
•Francesca Santoro, Program Specialist/IOC, UNESCO
•Helen Ågren, Director at the Swedish Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Swedish Ambassador for the Ocean
